He received his M.S. degree in Physics with extraordinary prize in 1968 from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and his Ph.D. in Physics with extraordinary prize in 1971 from Universidad del Pais Vasco. In 1982 he was appointed Professor to the Chair of Automatic Control at Departamento de Informática y Automática, UNED, in Madrid. Dormido ́s interest cover broad aspects of automatic control, computer control and computeraided control engineering, mathematical modelling and computer simulation, model based predictive control, robust control and development of virtual and remote labs for distance education. He has supervised 30 Ph.D. students. Dr. Dormido has been member of program committees for many international conferences and reviewer for numerous journals.
